About Michael

Michael Alcazar is a master educator with over 30 years of experience in teaching, facilitating, designing, building, and coaching. His various life experiences have uniquely given him the opportunity to explore areas of athletics, arts, the Military, salmon fisheries in Alaska, and countless experiential learning exercises in ecology across the planet. He was raised by highly skilled craftsmen and acquired skills in arts, design and building. His formal education is in anatomy and physiology, health and human services, with emphasis on outdoor experiential education. He is also an expert in Permaculture with the perspective of his indigenous ancestral lineage of traditional ecological knowledge and its applications, and often teaches Permaculture for various organizations across the state, and for tribes across the country.

Alcazar's most recent works have been in the area of social entrepreneurship. He is the lead Integrated Systems Designer at InAction Climate Mitigation Brokerage. He has designed, managed and worked on projects in Haiti, Alabama, Black Mesa Arizona and the Indigenous Wisdom Permaculture Skills Convergence in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. As part of the Pine Ridge team we worked on the Oglala Lakota Cultural and Economic Revitalization Initiative or OLCERI with the design and start of construction of an eco village, and on other projects like riparian and plains prairie land restoration projects. Here in Colorado, he has worked with various organizations creating and providing services and education that positively impact the land; with the city of Denver he helped with showcasing a project based in an eco-social solution for the urban environment, called Green Labs Urban Education, where he worked with many organizations and youth to facilitate 1500 hours of service learning on urban agriculture and sustainability.
